Resourceful Solutions to Energy Challenges

Welcome to ARM Energy Solutions

ARM endorses the premise that the means of producing energy and the quality of the environment are inextricably linked.  As part of an environmental consulting and engineering firm committed to protecting the environment, it seemed only natural to offer services in support of the development of energy projects that serve to produce energy in an environmentally sustainable manner.  Accordingly, ARM Energy Solutions (AES), a wholly-owned division of ARM Group Inc., was formed in 2007 to meet the growing demand from a broad and growing client base seeking energy solutions utilizing advanced and sustainable energy technologies.  Renewable energy technology is vital to the development, growth, and sustainability of American communities with solar, wind and geothermal energy being some of the most abundant and cleanest forms of renewable energy on the planet.  Since its inception, ARM has worked on numerous renewable energy projects and has the experience and expertise to provide engineering and consulting services in support of solar, wind and geothermal energy project development.

ARM Energy Solutions parent company, ARM Group Inc., is headquartered in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and was established in 1998 to provide engineering and environmental consulting to both public and private sector clients.  ARM employs engineers and scientists, most with advanced degrees, in the fields of civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering; aquatic biology; ecology; geology; hydrogeology; and geophysics. With branch offices in State College, PA, Warren, PA, and Columbia MD, ARM currently employs over 70 professionals, field technicians and administrative support personnel serving clients throughout the United States.

7 Reasons to Develop Your Own Renewable Energy Now!

1. 30% Federal Tax Credit (ITC)

This corporate tax credit is funded by “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009,” and is meant to stimulate the growth of renewable energy by providing a 30% tax credit for solar and wind projects; and 10% for geothermal projects.

2. PA Sunshine Solar Rebate

In an effort to jump start the solar market in Pennsylvania and reach the goal of 850 Megawatts of solar capacity by 2020, the state is providing over a $100 million in rebates for solar projects, which can cover up to 35% of incurred costs.

3. Accelerated Depreciation Tax Incentive

Businesses are eligible to take advantage of the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) depreciation schedule for solar, wind, and geothermal projects.  Through the end of 2009, a 50-percent bonus depreciation may be applied to eligible renewable energy projects.

4. PA 15% State Credit

The Pennsylvania Alternative Energy Production Tax Credit Program is a state tax credit of 15% on alternative energy projects.

5. Electricity Rate Cap Expiration in 2010/2011

Signaling the end of artificial prices and the opening of competition in the electricity industry, rate caps in the eastern half of Pennsylvania are set to expire in either 2010 or 2011, and the expected fallout is an increase in electricity costs of up to 40%.

6. Climate Change Legislation

The U.S. House of Representatives in June approved legislation designed to reduce the nation’s greenhouse emissions that contribute to global warming, 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050.  If approved by the Senate, this bill will likely result in higher energy costs from fossil fuel-based sources.

7. Net Metering Opportunities

With a 3-Megawatt (MW) limit for distributed renewable energy generation, Pennsylvania has the second highest allowable net metering threshold in the country.  Under net metering, a system owner receives retail value for any excess electricity generation, up to 3 MW, from renewable energy sources.
